About the Program
All students interested in earning a minor in chemistry must complete one year of general chemistry and at least one semester of organic chemistry with lab. In addition, another eight (8) credit hours must be selected by advisement and in accordance with each student’s background and interests. Many chemistry courses have prerequisites, so care must be taken when taking elective courses.

Admission Requirements
Any matriculated student in good academic standing may declare this program.
Learning Outcomes
Students will:
1. understand fundamental concepts in general and organic chemistry,
2. perform basic laboratory techniques safely and accurately, including solution preparation, titrations, organic reactions, characterization of molecules, and simple analytical methods.
3. apply basic problem-solving skills to interpret chemical data and solve simple chemical calculations.
4. communicate basic chemical concepts effectively in written and verbal formats.
